3 Effortless Mobile Marketing Tactics for Your Small Business

Reading Time: 3 minutes

For a small business owner, mobile marketing may seem like a daunting, costly or time-consuming task. You may rely on a mobile phone and mobile apps to conduct business, but may not market or advertise your business to a mobile-first audience.

The truth is, if you’re not creating a mobile marketing plan, then your business loses out on the majority of U.S. consumers. According to Google, more searches come from mobile phones than laptops or desktops.

Thankfully, you don’t have to sacrifice time and resources to tap into the mobile market. We’ve compiled free or low-cost user-friendly tools and apps to help conquer the bountiful lands of the mobile-first audience.

Check Your Website for Mobile Optimization

Did you know 50 percent of all local searches are performed on mobile devices? In response to the shift from desktop to mobile, Google recently updated its algorithm and now ranks your website higher in its search engine if it’s mobile-friendly. A mobile-friendly site also increases your competitive advantage over other small businesses. It’s estimated that 93 percent of the websites for small and medium sized business are not mobile compatible.

Check to see if your website is mobile-friendly with Google’s Mobile-Friendly Test. Simply enter your business website URL and you’ll have your answer in less than 2 minutes. If you do need to set up a mobile-friendly site, Weebly, Wix and WordPress are good options.

Create Mobile Videos to Increase Sales

If you want to increase sales or traffic to your store, mobile video is a must. In the U.S., 75 percent of adults are more likely to make a purchase after watching an online video that explains a product of service. As more consumers view videos through a smartphone, small businesses need to create informative, mobile-friendly videos for their audience. For example, you can create a connection with your consumer with a simple 1-minute how-to video. Check out these video apps that make it easy to share a tutorial, product or service video with a curious consumer.

Grab Attention with Mobile Ads

There are more than 40 million active small business Pages on Facebook. According to Dazeinfo, only 5 percent of the 40 million business pages are utilizing Facebook ads. Claim your share of the Facebook market with a Facebook Ad or “boosted post.”

If you want to learn how to set up a Facebook Ad, you can visit the Facebook for Business Website and click “Get Help.” If you want to share content like a new coupon deal or a  company photo, you can “boost” a post on your Facebook page. For a few dollars, a boosted post sends your content to a targeted audience. You can find the “boost post” option as button in the lower right corner of your Facebook post.
